5 Longevity Foods For Every Survivalist Bunker

Posted on

Billionaires are hunkering down in survivalist bunkers scattered around the globe. Many are former war-time bunkers and missile silos converted into ultru-luxe pads. The amenities are over the top—theatre rooms, indoor swimming pools, spas, and game rooms. The food is underwhelming. Many of these bunkers are stocked with years of supply of canned goods.

Cozying up for dinner with a bottle of fine wine from the wine cellar, fresh lettuce from the hydroponic garden and ... canned beans can quickly get boring. With such dismal food choices, many survivalists may escape to higher ground before too long.

Protected against biological agents, nuclear fallout, floods, and earthquakes, the real apocalyptic threat is the canned foods. Canned foods contain chemicals linked to cancer and birth defects

Every survivalist bunker should be stocked with healthy foods long on shelf-life, with safe packaging and preservation.

Garlic seasoned jerky - Every survivalist needs some savory garlic seasoned jerky. Stripped of the fat and dehydrated, the beef can be seasoned to any taste. We recommend garlic seasoned jerky. Garlic can reduce high blood pressure, fight heart disease and lower the risk of cancer (including stress-related colon and breast cancers).

Dried fruits and vegetables - Dried fruits are a good source of fibre. Superfoods like goji and acai berries are high in nutrition. For a healthy snack, stock some chocolate-covered dried fruits. Dried fruits and veggies can be easily rehydrated when added to soups, sauces, and deserts.

Dried nuts and seeds - These protein boosters and sources of healthy fat are good for snacking and garnishing food. Stock up on flax, sesame, chia, and hemp seeds for a protein boost, fibre and the good fats (Omega-3 and 6 fats). Nut butters are high in antioxidants. Seeds and nuts add zing to salads, sauces and deserts. Roasted seeds lose their natural oils and spoil sooner.

Freeze dried fish and meat - There is more to underground life than eating canned tuna. Freeze dried chunks of beef, chicken, and other meats can create succulent dishes.

All these foods have a storage life of 6–12 months without using preservatives. If you do use preservatives, all natural additives without carcinogens or allergens should be chosen. And be aware of salt as a preservative. Choose a garlic seasoned jerky low in sodium.

Every bunker needs a hydroponic garden and greenhouse to support a sustainable lifestyle. This way, you can make your own dried foods for years to come.
